Let's be brutally honest. The biggest threat to your company right now isn't the 2026 economy, the competition, or your supply chain.

It is you.

The Founder's Trap

For companies in the $2M-$25M range, growth usually stops when the founder becomes the ultimate bottleneck. But the dark truth is that many CEOs secretly enjoy being the bottleneck.

When everyone constantly comes to you for answers, it validates your identity. It feels good to be the hero who drops in and saves the day.

This addiction to being indispensable is the "Founder's Trap."

The Hard Reality

You must accept a hard reality: The scrappy, do-it-all skills that took your company from zero to $5 million are the exact same habits preventing it from reaching $25 million.

You cannot build a massive enterprise if you are still operating as the company's highest-paid super-employee.

How to Escape the Trap

To escape the trap and scale, you have to do three things immediately:

STEP_01

Audit Your Friction

Look at your calendar from last week. Highlight every meeting, email chain, or Slack thread that only happened because you needed to give an answer. That friction is your ego slowing down the company.

STEP_02

Fire Yourself from a Department

Pick the one department you still micromanage, whether it is Sales, Marketing, or Product, and fire yourself. Hand the keys to a true strategic operator and step away.

STEP_03

Let Small Fires Burn

Stop fixing every small problem. If you jump in to save your team every time they stumble, they will never learn to fight their own fires. Let them fail on the small things so they can learn to handle the big things.

Build the Machine

Your job is no longer to run the business. Your job is to build the machine that runs the business.

Get out of your own way.
